Tyler Gendron To Captain RPI Men's Basketball Team

Tyler Gendron of Merrimack has been named a captain of the men's basketball team for the 2015-16 season, according to head coach Mark Gilbride.

Gendron (Merrimack High School) is a forward playing his fourth season on the varsity. He started 21 of the 23 games he played last year, averaging 11.1 points and 3.9 rebounds with 30 assists, 19 steals and five blocked shots. He posted double figures in points in 12 games, including a 28-point effort in the season finale. In his sophomore year, Gendron averaged 8.9 points with 93 rebounds, 17 assists, 30 steals and 10 blocks in 25 games. He was a unanimous Liberty League All-Rookie Team selection as a freshmen when he averaged 8.7 points with 78 rebounds, 19 assists, 30 steals and five blocks.
