Samuel Mayo Earns Liberty League All-Academic Recognition

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete Samuel Mayo of Westborough, a Biomedical Engineering major, has earned recognition as part of the 2016 Liberty League Winter All-Academic Swimming & Diving Team.

"The Liberty League takes great pride in the academic achievements of our student-athletes," said Liberty League Commissioner Tracy King. "The outstanding students who have qualified for the league's All-Academic Teams continue to demonstrate that it is possible to not only compete at the highest levels of Division III, but to also excel in the classroom."

Rensselaer had 25 student-athletes chosen to the Winter All-Academic Team. Three were from men's basketball and four from the women's basketball team earned the honor, while there were nine from men's swimming & diving and 11 from the women's team. Fifteen different majors are being studied by these student-athletes, including 10 different engineering majors, bioinformatics and molecular biology, mathematics, business and management and psychology.
