Madeline Sturm Earns Liberty League Weekly Award

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete Madeline Sturm of Bristol 06010 has been selected for a weekly award by the Liberty League for an outstanding effort in cross country.

A sophomore, Sturm (St. Paul Catholic) was named Rookie of the Week after she helped the Engineers to a first place finish in the Saratoga Invitational, a 15-school event held at the Saratoga Spa State Park. She was tenth overall out of 157 competitors with a time of 18:29.2, a pace of 5:57. As a team, RPI totaled 30 points, which was 37 points ahead of the second place squad, Plattsburgh State. This is the first season of cross country for Sturm, who ran track & field as a freshman. The chemistry major participated in cross country for one year while in high school, earning All-Copper Division. She also played four years of basketball, four years of softball and three of volleyball.
