Madeline Dery of Putnam Valley 10579 is a member of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) cross country team. The Chemical Engineering major has helped the Engineers to a strong start through the first two weeks of the season, including a second place finish at Siena College and a third place finish on Saturday.

RPI, which is coached by John Lynch, is coming off a season in which it finished a school record ninth at the NCAA Division III Championship Meet. The Engineers are nationally-ranked this season and expected to make a return trip to Nationals in November.
