Josephine Lyons Earns Liberty League Weekly Award

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete Josephine Lyons of Harwood 20776 has been selected for a weekly award by the Liberty League for an outstanding effort in soccer.

A freshman goalkeeper, Lyons Lyons posted a 2-1 record with a 0.33 goals against average and a .941 save percentage as the starter in all three games last week. She opened with back-to-back shutouts of Plattsburgh (1-0) and RIT (1-0), making three and four saves, respectively, before stopping a career-high nine shots in a l-0 loss to William Smith on Saturday. Lyons has an 8-2 record as the starter in all 10 games this season. A graduate of Southern High School, she carries a 0.31 goals against average and a .927 save percentage, with six shutouts and one combined shutout. She has made 38 saves and allowed just three goals, including a penalty kick.

The Engineers (8-2; 1-1 Liberty League) are back in action on Wednesday, when they host Rutgers-Camden at East Campus Stadium (4pm). RPI is home to Vassar for a critical Liberty League contest on Saturday (5pm).
