James Jackson Earns All-Region Golf Award

The Division III Golf Coaches Association of America PING All-Northeast Region team includes Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete James Jackson of Islesboro it has been announced.

Jackson (Belfast Area), a captain, averaged a team-best 76.7 strokes over 18 rounds this season. He had four top 10 finishes, including third overall at the NYU Spring Invitational, fifth at the ECAC Championship in the fall and eighth in the four-round Liberty League Championship. The Liberty League Performer of the Week once, his best rounds included a 70 at The Ranch on the second day of the ECAC Tournament, three 73s and three 74s. He was previously selected to the All-Liberty League First Team for the second time in his career. Jackson was a National All-America and CoSIDA National Academic All-America as a junior.

As a team, the Engineers, who are coached by Miles Nolan, posted seven top five finishes. They won the league's spring event, finished third at the Duke Nelson, third at NYU and third at the Kravetz. RPI was also third in the Liberty League's four-round tournament, which was played with two rounds in the fall and two in the spring with the overall winner earning the conference's automatic berth to the NCAA Championship.
