James Jackson Earns Academic Award

Four Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athletes have been selected to the 2016 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 3 Division III At-Large Teams. James Jackson of Islesboro is among the award winners and is now on the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, from which first-, second- and third team National Academic All-America honorees will be selected later this month.

Biomedical Engineering major…Captain…76.79 scoring average over 18 rounds…Seven top 15 finishes in nine tournaments with two top 5s…Team had seven top 5 finishes including four top 3s in nine tournaments…Scored lower than 82% of competitors…All-Liberty League First Team…GCAA All-Northeast Region…2015 CoSIDA National Academic All-America At-Large Third Team…2015 Division III GCAA All-Northeast Region… All-Liberty League as sophomore…Six-time Liberty League Performer of the Week…Five first place and 14 top-10 finishes in 36 collegiate tournaments…Outscored 64% of competitors as freshman, 70% as sophomore, 83.5% as junior and 82% as senior…Intern in Medical Devices group at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (2015)…Hired full-time by Regeneron…Conducted research in two scientific laboratories: The Musculoskeletal Mechanics Laboratory at RPI and Musculoskeletal Tissue Regeneration Laboratory at Rutgers…Two publications both reviewed by public journals.
