Jaime Lord Earns Liberty League Weekly Honor

2016 Sep 14

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete Jaime Lord of Stony Point 10980 has been selected for a weekly award by the Liberty League for an outstanding effort in cross country.

In the Ron Stonitsch Invitational hosted by Vassar College, Lord (North Rockland HS) finished 17th overall in the 197-runner field. She ran the 5000 meter race, which was held on Vassar Farm, in a time of 19:35.3 - a 6:18.6 pace. The junior was less than two seconds from 11th as the Engineers placed third of 15 schools, trailing only Williams College and Stevens Institute of Technology. The race was the first of the season for Lord, who last season earned National All-America by finishing 15th at the NCAA Division III Championship Meet. Lord was also an All-America in the indoor 3000 meters after she was third in the nation as a sophomore. The aeronautical engineering and mechanical engineering major was also a CoSIDA National Academic All-America Third Team choice in 2016.

Rensselaer's teams, which are both coached by John Lynch, are idle this weekend. The Engineers return to the course on September 24 at the Purple Valley Classic hosted by Williams.
