Jaime Lord Earns Fourth League Award

2016 Mar 8

Coming off a record-setting performance, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete Jaime Lord of Stony Point has been named the Women's Track Performer of the Week by the Liberty League. This is the fourth weekly honor for the sophomore distance runner.

She was chosen this week after finishing first in the 3000 meters with a time of 9:45.58, giving her the third best time in NCAA Division III, at the Tufts Final Qualifying Meet. Lord's (North Rockland HS) effort was also the second best time in school history and first and on a flat track.

An NCAA Championship Meet qualifier in the 3000 meters, she was previously recognized by the Liberty League on February 8 when she led the mile field from start to finish at the Dartmouth College Invitational. She defeated 25 others with her time of 5:03.80. Lord was also honored on January 25 when she was victorious in the 3000 meter run with an Ithaca College facility record time of 10:06.16.

Lord was also tabbed the Women's Cross Country Performer of the Week once after she earned National All-America by finishing 15th (of 280) at the NCAA Championship, running the 6K course in a time of 21:30.3. She helped the Engineers to a school-record ninth-place finish.

Lord, along with teammate Maddie Dery (Mahopac, NY / Mahopac), competes in the 3000 meter run at this weekend's NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships. They are two of six Rensselaer student-athletes who will compete in five events in attempting to win national championships and all-America status.
