Bethany Hanson Earns Liberty League Weekly Award

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete Bethany Hanson of Fullerton 92833 has been selected for a weekly award by the Liberty League for an outstanding effort in soccer.

A junior center back., Hanson was named to the Liberty League Weekly Honor Roll after she anchored a back line that allowed one goal on just five shots (three on goal) in two games last week. Averaging 83.5 minutes per match, she recorded one shot attempt offensively, while holding the Hawks without a shot on target on Wednesday and the Valiants to three on Saturday. Hanson is second among Rensselaer field players averaging 85.3 minutes per match. The Sunny Hill High School graduate has one goal - the first of her collegiate career - as a starter in all seven games this year. She has six shots (1 on goal), while helping the Engineers surrender two total goals (1 penalty kick) on 46 shots.

The Engineers (6-1) host SUNY Plattsburgh on Monday night (7pm), before opening Liberty League play this weekend with RIT and No. 2 William Smith visiting East Campus Stadium on Friday (4pm) and Saturday (2pm), respectively.
