Benjamin Fazio Recognized by Liberty League

Benjamin Fazio of East Greenwich has earned a weekly track & field award from the Liberty League.

At the multi-divisional, non-team scoring Dartmouth Indoor Classic, Fazio (East Greenwich HS) set the school record in the mile, crossing the finish line in first place with a time of 4:11.25. He out-kicked 29 other runners in setting a new school standard by seven seconds. Among the schools in which his opponents came were Dartmouth, Middlebury, Bentley, Hartford, Plymouth State, Keene State and Springfield. This is the second Track Performer of the Week honor for Fazio, a two-time NCAA All-America in cross country. He was previously recognized after winning the 24-person, 3000 meter run with a school record, facility record and the top NCAA Division III 2016 season time of 8:24.37 at the Ithaca Quad. He finished 17 seconds ahead of the runner-up, breaking the previous facility mark of 8:25.00 by nearly a full second.
