Benjamin Fazio Recognized by Liberty League

Benjamin Fazio of East Greenwich has earned a weekly track & field award from the Liberty League.

Fazio (East Greenwich HS), the Men's Track Performer of the Week, and his teammates competed in the Ithaca College Quad Meet, and the junior was victorious in the 24-person 3000 meter run with a school record, facility record and the top NCAA Division III 2016 season time of 8:24.37. He finished 17 seconds ahead of the runner-up, breaking the previous facility mark of 8:25.00 by nearly a second. Last week at the season-opening Bowdoin College Quad, the two-time cross country All-America won the 1000 meters, defeating 13 other competitors with a time of 2:27.29. The runner-up finished in 2:31.98.
