Benjamin Fazio Earns Liberty League Weekly Honor

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete Benjamin Fazio of East Greenwich 02818 has been selected for a weekly award by the Liberty League for an outstanding effort in cross country.

Named to the Weekly Honor Roll for the second straight week was Fazio (East Greenwich HS), who finished fifth overall at the Vassar College Meet with a time of 19:31.2 (5:14.1 pace). He was less than five seconds from fourth place and less than 10 from a top three finish. A two-time National All-America, he earned last week's honor after leading the Engineers to victory in their season-opening meet, which was hosted by Siena College. He finished first on the team with a time of 18:28 and trailed only two student-athletes from Division I Siena. A materials engineering major who also runs track, Fazio now has eight weekly league awards to his credit throughout his career.

Rensselaer's teams, which are both coached by John Lynch, are idle this weekend. The Engineers return to the course on September 24 at the Purple Valley Classic hosted by Williams.
