Benjamin Fazio Earns All-Region in Track and Field

The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's and women's track & field teams are well represented on the the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) 2016 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field All-Region Team as nine different student-athletes captured 15 honors, including Benjamin Fazio of East Greenwich.

A mid-distance runner, Fazio (East Greenwich) earned All-Region in the 1500 and 5000 meters. He ran a personal-best 3:53.50 in the 1500 at the New York State Championship Meet earlier this month, before establishing a personal-record of 14:16.43 in the 5000 a week later at the IC4A Championship. Fazio is sixth nationally in the 5k and will represent RPI's men's team, which is ranked 20th in the latest national computer rankings, in that event at the Division III Meet.

To be named All-Region, an athlete must either be ranked in the top-5 of an individual event in the region or be part of a top-3 relay team. Each of Rensselaer's selections were for individual efforts.
