Andrew Gondek Captures Academic All-District Award

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete Andrew Gondek of Ballston Spa has been selected to the 2015 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Men's Soccer Academic All-District(TM) 3 Division III Team.

Gondek (Ballston Spa, NY / Ballston Spa), a junior, is an electrical engineering major. He is a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and has been a teaching assistant in the engineering department as well as the physics, applied physics, and astronomy department at Rensselaer. Gondek has also been an engineering intern with D.A. Collins Construction Co., Inc., producing project plans and estimated budget forecasts with other project managers. He also optimized the functionality of budget management and organization systems and rendered and analyzed bridge, structure, and hydroelectric dam drawings. On the field, the defender started all 18 games, scoring twice with an assist, along with eight shots. One of his goals was a game-winner. Gondek was the Liberty League Defensive Performer of the Week this year, a season after being named the Squad Locker Classic Most Valuable Defensive Player. He finished the 2014 campaign with an assist in 19 games. He played 12 games as a freshman, scoring once for the Engineers, who were 11-5-2 and played in the Liberty League Semifinals.
